Torrential showers have brought daily life to a grinding halt in Chennai over the last few days. Subsequent flooding in parts of the city has killed over 10 people and forced thousands to vacate their homes. At a time when the city is reeling under the impact of the floods, the men in uniform are going the extra mile to ensure that people in the city remain safe.
Photos of Chennai policemen cleaning clogged drains with bare hands without waiting for civic officials is going viral on social media. Even superstar Kamal Haasan praised the police for doing a commendable job under such strenuous conditions.

Not just from Tamil Nadu, people on Twitter from outside the state have lavished praise on the cops.
Photos of cops distributing food to people stranded in their homes are also doing rounds on the micro-blogging site. People are sharing their stories and experience online, thanking the men in khaki for their relentless services.
