Randomizer Demo

A demo of the Randomizer script for Maya. The script allows for easy creation of materials with randomized properties.

Tutorial:
1) Download the script here: http://alexberkowitz.com/downloads/randomizer.mel (right-click -> save link as)
2) Drag the script into the Maya viewport to run it
3) Adjust the ranges for color, specular, and transparency and/or specify a transparency map
4) Choose a material type and name
5) Select desired objects (can be done before running the script as well)
6) Click “Make Materials”

Abstract Boxes [Particle Flow Tutorial]

Update 1: In order to animate this, you’ll have to add a “new in event” on the “# Particles” operator. Just like this: http://goo.gl/rh9Gdp
Without it, pflow will multiply the number of particles by itself on each integration step creating almost an infinite amount of particles.
Update 2: Using more complex meshes, like a Chamfer Box, you can notice some render issues. Just change the Render Operator from Single Mesh to Multiple Meshes and it might work fine.

Based on Lee Griggs’ idea, we’ll create some abstract composition with hundreds of thousands of Boxes.

Fabric Weaving in Maya Tutorial


Rough tutorial showing a rough process to get some kind of weaving effect in maya. Seen a lot of this type of stuff in Softimage and C4D but I wanted to try and get something like this in maya. Please hit me up if you have better ideas or processes to get something similar.
