According to <\/span>Caughtoffside<\/span><\/a>, Liverpool are interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malen in the summer transfer window. The Premier League club believe that the addition of the player will add depth to their offensive unit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Donyell Malen is a prolific goal-scorer<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Donyell Malen<\/a> came through the ranks of Ajax and then joined Arsenal. However, <\/span>failed<\/span> to establish himself there, he moved to PSV before Borussia Dortmund finally lured him away in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malen enjoyed a brilliant season individually in the 2023-24 campaign. He netted 15 goals and provided five assists in 38 games. He also averaged 2.6 shots, 0.8 key passes, and 1.5 dribbles per game (stats via <\/span>whoscored<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Dutch forward can play on both wings <\/span>as well as<\/span> in the centre. He is extremely quick with great dribbling skills. His ability to not only score effectively in the final third but also create chances for his teammates is appreciated by many.<\/span><\/p>\n

A replacement for Mohamed Salah?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

There were speculations over the future of Mohamed Salah<\/a> at Anfield beyond the previous season. <\/span>However, it seems like the Egyptian star <\/span>is going to<\/span> stay for another season <\/span>with Liverpool<\/span>.<\/span> But that shouldn\u2019t restrict the club from signing his backup.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Reds interest in Donyell Malen indicates that they are preparing for life after Salah. As Malen mainly plays on the right wing, he can take up the position in the future. The talented player has already shown that he has all the qualities to succeed in the Premier League.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 25-year-old\u2019s sense to smell goals up front will be useful for Liverpool. Should they decide to acquire Malen\u2019s services this summer, they <\/span>will have to<\/span> trigger his release clause of \u20ac40m. The player\u2019s contract will expire in 2026 but it would be risky to wait till then as Arsenal<\/a> are also keeping tabs on him.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
