Newcastle United are trying to make full use of the ongoing summer transfer window. The club need quality reinforcements that fit in with the tactics of manager Eddie Howe. Conor Gallagher\u2019s name is beginning to be heard loud and clear at St. James\u2019 Park. The Englishman, who has already made his mark at Chelsea<\/a> and is now making his mark at Atletico Madrid<\/a>, has attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs. According to Football Insider<\/a>, Aston Villa<\/a> and Everton<\/a> already have their eyes on him, but the Magpies could have more to offer. The competition promises to be tense.<\/p>\n

Conor Gallagher: price, competition and an uncertain future<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gallagher joined Atletico for around \u00a340 million from Stamford Bridge. Today, any interested club will have to get close to \u00a350m if they want to even catch the eye of the Madrid club. Football Insider<\/a> revealed that Villa, Everton and Newcastle will fight for his services if Atletico decide to open the exit door.<\/p>\n

Pete O\u2019Rourke<\/a> said: \u201cI\u2019m not surprised that there will be interest from Premier League clubs. <\/em>He\u2019s a top player and he\u2019s shown that for England as well as Chelsea and his other clubs. <\/em>A lot will depend on where Gallagher sees his future, he has a big year coming up where he\u2019ll want to be playing regularly to break into Thomas Tuchel\u2019s England squad.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He joined Atletico for around \u00a340million from Chelsea last year, and it\u2019s going to take a lot more than that to get him away. <\/em>It\u2019ll take around the \u00a350million mark to make Atletico consider selling him. <\/em>I\u2019m not sure whether Premier League clubs will be willing to go to those levels for Gallagher. <\/em>But if Atletico do put him on the market, it doesn\u2019t surprise me that Newcastle, Everton and others are looking at Conor Gallagher.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Aston Villa are interested as well, because he\u2019s a proven Premier League player.<\/em> They are in the race. <\/em>If he does become available, there will be interest in him, there\u2019s no doubt about it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s no surprise to see the Magpies on this list. Eddie Howe is looking for midfielders with work rate, intense pressing and quality on the ball. Gallagher is a good fit if we take into consideration all these factors. The problem is the amount. \u00a350 million is not going to be an easy amount for any of the Premier League clubs. Newcastle know they are not alone in the bidding. The competition is on, and every detail counts to convince the player.<\/p>\n

Should Newcastle United make the final move?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Newcastle need muscle and fresh legs in midfield. Gallagher offers work rate, quality, and also finishing. However, paying \u00a350m for a player who has yet to settle in Spain doesn\u2019t seem so straightforward. Aston Villa are growing and can promise him minutes. Everton are looking for a young leader to add fresh impetus to their squad. The Magpies, meanwhile, need to think about squad depth for Europe and the Premier League.<\/p>\n

If Gallagher wants minutes to make Thomas Tuchel\u2019s squad with England, Newcastle can offer him that. Now, will they win the race? With money, there are options, but they will have to convince him that their sporting project beats that of Villa or Everton. The price is high.
