In a recent interview with Tottenham News<\/a>, former Premier League scout Bryan King tipped Liverpool to win the race for Crystal Palace<\/a> midfielder Adam Wharton next summer. King said,<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool are certainly on the horizon for him (Wharton), as are Tottenham.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve liked him ever since he got in the team at Crystal Palace. I think he\u2019s a very influential midfielder.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a better all-round player than Maddison. Maddison is obviously very clever with his free kicks, but Wharton has got a great engine, and he\u2019ll run all day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s made the right decision to stay at Palace for another year, as it\u2019s not going to alter anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it ever came to a straight choice between Liverpool and Spurs, I think he\u2019d go to Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wharton\u2019s Impressive Rise In The Premier League<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 21-year-old managed to impress at the heart of Oliver Glasner\u2019s midfield in the previous campaign as he helped the Eagles win the FA Cup earlier this summer. Wharton registered two assists in 27 matches for Crystal Palace last season in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The English talent offered decent protection for his teammates at the back after he made 34 tackles, 11 blocks and 20 interceptions in the Premier League<\/a>. He even distributed the ball well after completing 75.6% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Will Wharton Be A Good Signing For Liverpool?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Wharton is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is an accurate passer of the ball. The English sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the opposition half. He mainly operates as a holding midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so.<\/p>\n

At 21, the future looks quite bright for Wharton as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is already good enough to serve as a decent rotational piece in Liverpool<\/a> boss Arne Slot\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n

Thus, it makes sense for the Reds<\/a> to try and lure Wharton to Anfield next summer. He has the potential to be a future star in English football which makes him a great signing for the Merseyside club to consider in 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
