In a recent report<\/a>, journalists Danny Rust and Dean Jones revealed that Manchester United are eyeing a loan move for Bayern Munich<\/a> midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eager to acquire the services of the Portugal international on loan this off-season.<\/p>\n

Palhinha\u2019s Impressive Form In German Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 30-year-old served as a decent presence in Bayern Munich\u2019s squad last season and managed to produce a run of solid displays for them at the centre of the park. Palhinha made 25 appearances for the German club in the previous campaign across all competitions.<\/p>\n

The Lisbon-born talent anchored the midfield well at times as he made 20 tackles, 13 blocks and 4 interceptions in the Bundesliga<\/a> last season. He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 92.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, the Red Devils would be wise to try and arrange a loan deal for him in this transfer window.<\/p>\n

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Palhinha?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Palhinha is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and is a good passer of the ball.<\/p>\n

Standing at 1.90m, the Portugal international can use his strong frame to his advantage and win some 50-50 aerial duels for his team in the middle of the park.<\/p>\n

We can expect Palhinha to add more bite and steel to Man United<\/a> boss Ruben Amorim\u2019s midfield department. He has already got some valuable Premier League<\/a> experience under his belt and won\u2019t take much time to settle into life at the Mancunian club.<\/p>\n

At 30, Palhinha has still got a few good years left in him to play at his best. Thus, it makes sense for the Red Devils to go for a player of his quality and experience in this summer transfer window. He is good enough to help the Red Devils challenge for a European spot in the Premier League next season.
