If a recent report from The Herald<\/a> is believed to be true, Celtic have had a \u00a31.5m bid rejected for Jakob Breum. The high-flying Go Ahead Eagles attacking ace is valued way above the Hoops\u2019 initial offer, according to club director Jan Willem van Dop.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThere has been a bid for Jakob Breum from a foreign club. We are so far apart there. You have to stand your ground. He may have to realise that it could be very good to stay with us at least until the winter break, just like Oliver Edvardsen.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Van Dop revealed in an interview with RTTV Oost (as quoted by The Herald<\/a>). He did not name the Celts, but has set a valuation of \u00a35m for the Danish winger.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old Denmark youth international spent his youth years with Ubberud, N\u00e6sby and OB, before breaking into the latter\u2019s senior squad in the Superliga. Go Ahead snapped him up in the summer of 2023, and Breum, despite initial struggles, exhibited his mastery last season with 11 goals and 6 assists in 31 outings across competitions.<\/p>\n

Why Celtic Are Eyeing The Attacking Ace<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Predominantly a wide forward, who prefers to cut inside from the left to use his stronger right foot, flourished last season as a \u2018number 10\u2019 in the Dutch side\u2019s 4-2-3-1 setup. His versatility in and around the attacking third must have impressed the Celtic scouts, as they look for reinforcements following Nicolas Kuhn\u2019s \u00a317m move to Como and Jota\u2019s anterior cruciate ligament rupture.<\/p>\n

Breum, who won the 2024-25 KNVB Cup with Go Ahead Eagles, still has two years left in his contract. The Cup triumph has earned them a UEFA Europa League berth, thus allowing the\u00a0Overijssel outfit to play hardball over the transfer fee.<\/p>\n

Celtic<\/a> have maintained their dominance in domestic competitions for years. But Rangers, their Old Firm rivals, are eyeing a comeback upon the Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises-led takeover. They have appointed Russell Martin as the new Ibrox chief, who is undergoing a squad rebuild with several new signings.<\/p>\n

The Bhoys have brought in Benjamin Nygren, Shin Yamada, and Callum Osmand to bolster the frontline; however, they lack depth, amid reports<\/a> of loan interest<\/a> in Yang Hyun-jun and Johnny Kenny. Outcasts Luis Palma and Marco Tilio have been offloaded, whereas Rodgers has yet to rope in a replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi since his winter move to Rennes.
