In one of his recent interviews with Sky Sports<\/a>, Rangers boss Russell Martin has opened up on the rumoured interest in Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. The Englishman tried to sign him during his tenure as the Southampton chief, but he played coy while discussing the youngster\u2019s potential switch to Ibrox this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a really good player. We look at all sorts of different profiles that we think can help the team; it doesn\u2019t necessarily have to be one type of profile. Players are very different. We just need the ones with the right mentality who are desperate to come and play here. We\u2019ll see where we end up in four weeks\u2019 time.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But he also highlighted that Rak-Sakyi is someone whom the recruitment staff also likes.<\/p>\n

A report earlier this month revealed the Gers\u2019 interest<\/a> in the 22-year-old England youth international. Palace set a valuation of around \u00a310m for the attacker, but are now willing to let him leave on loan with an option-to-buy clause as part of any deal.<\/p>\n

Although Wolves and Southampton are also keeping<\/a> close tabs on the situation, Rangers are optimistic about snapping him up ahead of the other suitors. Rak-Sakyi sustained an injury<\/a> in their pre-season outing against Crawley Town, but was able to walk off on his own accord.<\/p>\n

The former Chelsea prospect made 10 senior appearances for the Eagles. He was integrated into the first-team set-up after an impressive 2022-23 season while on loan in League One with Charlton Athletic. But the lack of gametime led to another temporary move, as he joined Sheffield United last season in the Championship. The Blades suffered heartbreak in the playoff final, but the young forward impressed with his flair and finesse from the flanks.<\/p>\n

Why Rangers Must Snap Him Up<\/strong><\/h3>\n

According to SunSport<\/a>, Rak-Sakyi is open<\/a> to plying his trade north of the border. The Gers lost a few wide attacking options at the end of the previous campaign. They did not renew the contracts of Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence. Also, Vaclav Cerny is not expected to return, even though he was one of the shining lights during his season-long loan stint from Wolfsburg.<\/p>\n

Rangers<\/a> have roped in Djeidi Gassama and Thelo Aasgaard so far in this window. But the latter\u2019s injury absence forced Martin to deploy Kieran Dowell as a makeshift wideman in their Champions League qualifying round contest against Panathinaikos. Oscar Cortes needs to prove his worth after an injury-ravaged spell, but the rise of 18-year-old Findlay Curtis offers him depth down the wide.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Curtis\u2019s minutes must be managed carefully going forward, and Rak-Sakyi, who likes to cut inside from the right to use his preferred left foot, would be an assured starter on the right.
