According to\u00a0<\/span>Merseyside outlet Paisley Gates<\/span><\/a>, Liverpool are marching close to signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer. However, the deal still depends upon the player, who has yet to make a decision on his future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Martin Zubimendi<\/a> joined Real Sociedad Academy at the age of 12. Since then, he has been climbing up the ladders. Over the past few seasons, he has been a consistent performer for his club and arguably one of the best midfielders in the La Liga.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zubimendi was brilliant last season, where he ended up with four goals and an assist to his name in 45 games. He averaged 2.2 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via <\/span>whoscored<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spanish midfielder is a defensive choice in the middle of the park. He is an intelligent player who tries to work on his positioning. With excellent tackles, blocking the shots, and making an aerial presence, he provides stability in the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool are confident about signing Martin Zubimendi<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Liverpool are focused on signing a midfielder or two before the summer <\/span>window<\/span> closes. They are <\/span>visibly<\/span> looking to sign a defensive midfielder as they were over-dependent upon Wataru Endo<\/a> last season. Hence, the pursuit of Martin Zubimendi seems a move in the right direction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zubimendi is an experienced and proven campaigner, who would provide solidity in the midfielder. His presence will allow other midfielders to play in a more offensive role. The 25-year-old is at the peak of his powers and can help the Reds win big titles.<\/span><\/p>\n

On one side, he might find joining Anfield a lucrative move in his career.
