In a recent report<\/a>, journalist Pete O\u2019Rourke claimed that Chelsea are keeping tabs on Ajax youngster Aaron Bouwman. It is believed that the Blues are monitoring the progress of the Dutch centre-back.<\/p>\n

Bouwman\u2019s Rapid Rise In Dutch Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 17-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Ajax and has managed to catch the eye at times for their youth sides over the past 12 months. However, Bouwman is still waiting to make his first senior appearance for the Dutch club.<\/p>\n

The Dutch talent has been a solid presence at the back and has done well to make 20 appearances for Ajax\u2019s Under-17 side, scoring four goals and earning one assist in the process across all fronts. He is currently among the best youth defenders in Dutch football, so Chelsea would do well to bring him on board in this summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

His current contract at the Dutch Eredivisie<\/a> club will run out in the summer of 2027, which could make it tough for the Blues to recruit him on the cheap this off-season.<\/p>\n

Chelsea Are Keeping Tabs On Bouwman: Is He A Prospect For The Future?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bouwman is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn\u2019t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.<\/p>\n

The Dutch sensation is a composed presence on the ball. Standing at 1.88m, Bouwman is a strong presence in the air as well. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time before he is ready for top-flight football.<\/p>\n

Still, we can expect Bouwman to improve the quality of Chelsea<\/a> boss Enzo Maresca\u2019s backline in the long run. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, the Blues would be wise to step up their efforts to land him this summer.<\/p>\n

At 17, there is a lot of room for improvement in Bouwman\u2019s game. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he would be able to cope with the high intensity of English football.
