Despite another 1-1 draw in the league, Rangers <\/a>are in the driver\u2019s seat in Europe ahead of locking horns with Viktoria Plzen for the return leg of the Champions League third qualifying round encounter. Having clinched a commanding 3-0 win at Ibrox, the Glasgow giants must focus now on defending the three-goal cushion in Czechia on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Russell Martin has a lot to work on following back-to-back setbacks in the Premiership. Despite being sent off against Dundee, Nasser Djiga would be available to partner with John Souttar for the European outing. Yet the Light Blues must bolster themselves by bringing a left-footed centre-half to offer more balance in the heart of the backline. Substitute James Tavernier rescued a point by scoring a last-gasp equaliser, and the gaffer must restore the veteran Englishman down the right, thus shifting Max Aarons on the left in place of Jefte. The Brazilian left-back could be rotated with either of the fullback pair.<\/p>\n

Midfield<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Martin has switched to a 4-2-3-1 from 4-3-3 in recent games to utilise Lyall Cameron\u2019s creativity as a \u2018number 10\u2019. While Thelo Aasgaard fits better as an attacking playmaker, his injury absence leaves the manager with little depth in and around the attacking third. He should revert to a three-man midfield and deploy Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande as central midfielders. The duo, along with veteran Joe Rothwell, would offer more stability and composure in the middle of the park. Cameron, as well as Kieran Dowell and Connor Barron, might get introduced as second-half substitutes.<\/p>\n

Attack<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Besides being linked<\/a> with a summer exit, Hamza Igamane remains sidelined due to fitness reasons. Both Cyriel Dessers and Danilo lack the pace and precision while spearheading the attack. Yet, the Nigerian \u2018number 9\u2032 is expected to retain his place for the experience he offers up top. Oliver Antman and Djeidi Gassama have been roped in as wide attacking options, and the Rangers\u2019 summer recruits must make things work down the flanks similar to the first-leg fixture. Mikey Moore, who turned 18 this week, could finally be involved, having completed a season-long loan move from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.<\/p>\n
