In a recent post on X<\/a>, journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed that Manchester City<\/a> are in the mix to land Red Bull Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons. It has been claimed that the Mancunian giants have identified the Dutch playmaker as a replacement for Savio this summer.<\/p>\n

Simons\u2019 Impressive Season In The Bundesliga<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 22-year-old was a reliable performer for the German club in the previous campaign when he produced a run of eye-catching displays for them in the Bundesliga. Simons banged in 11 goals and picked up eight assists in 33 matches for RB Leipzig last season across multiple competitions.<\/p>\n

The Dutch sensation was a good contributor in the final third as he averaged 2.09 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga<\/a>. He kept 46% of his attempts on target. Simons was even tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after he completed 78.6% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Simons is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2027. Hence, Man City would have to make a big offer if they want to lure him to the Etihad Stadium this off-season.<\/p>\n

Is Simons A Good Option For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Simons can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to create a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third. He can make some driving runs with the ball in the opponent\u2019s half.<\/p>\n

The Dutch talent can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team in the final third. He mainly plays in the number ten position but can also serve as a wide player on either flank if needed.<\/p>\n

Simons would bring more firepower to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola<\/a>\u2018s attack. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium this season. However, only time will tell whether Simons can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n
