Newcastle United welcomed Liverpool at St. James\u2019 Park earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a win at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 35th minute when Ryan Gravenberch scored with a deflected effort. Anthony Gordon received a red card from the referee in the latter stages of the first half after his reckless challenge on Virgil Van Dijk. Eddie Howe\u2019s men went into the half-time interval 1-0 down on the scoreline.<\/p>\n

Hugo Ekitike doubled his team\u2019s lead in the 46th minute. However, Bruno Guimaraes scored Newcastle\u2019s first goal with a good header in the 57th minute before William Osula equalised for the Magpies in the 88th minute. However, the ten men of Newcastle suffered late heartbreak as Rio Ngumoha scored a dramatic winner in injury time. The match finished with the Tyneside club suffering a tough 3-2 loss at St. James\u2019 Park.<\/p>\n

GK: Nick Pope \u2013 5.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pope made one good save at the back and won\u2019t be pleased about conceding three times tonight.<\/p>\n

RB: Kieran Trippier \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made one decent chance going forward, but lacked quality when defending inside his half.<\/p>\n

CB: Fabian Schar \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Schar dealt with the danger when he could, but had to be replaced in the 80th minute.<\/p>\n

CB: Dan Burn \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a lot of crucial clearances at the back but failed to keep the Liverpool attackers quiet.<\/p>\n

LB: Tino Livramento \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He earned possession back once and made a few driving runs with the ball on the left flank.<\/p>\n

CM: Bruno Guimaraes \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Brazilian talent worked his socks off at both ends of the field and did well to score in the 57th minute.<\/p>\n

CM: Sandro Tonali \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He struggled to get a foothold in the game and was replaced after the hour mark.<\/p>\n

CM: Joelinton \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joelinton did his best to protect his backline but lacked quality in the opponent\u2019s half.<\/p>\n

RW: Anthony Elanga \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was quiet for most of the night but made one key chance in the final third.<\/p>\n

ST: Anthony Gordon \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gordon made a bright start to the game but let his teammates down by getting sent off in the dying embers of the first half.<\/p>\n

LW: Harvey Barnes \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He used his pace well at times but failed to threaten the Liverpool goal.<\/p>\n

Miley added some energy to Newcastle\u2019s midfield.<\/p>\n

Ramsey made one good chance in the final third.<\/p>\n
