In a recent report<\/a>, The Athletic stated that Manchester United were eager to re-sign Brighton and Hove Albion forward Danny Welbeck. It has been revealed that the Red Devils were eyeing a move to bring the English talent back to Old Trafford in the last transfer window.<\/p>\n

Welbeck\u2019s Important Role At Brighton Last Season<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Welbeck enjoyed a good run of form at the English club in the previous campaign when he put in a handful of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 34-year-old scored 11 times and earned four assists in 36 matches for the Seagulls last season across all competitions.<\/p>\n

The English striker managed to shine at times on the offensive end of the field as he averaged 2.51 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League<\/a>. He kept 39% of his attempts on target. Welbeck was even tidy with his ball distribution after completing 84.9% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

His current contract at Brighton<\/a> will run out next summer. Thus, it makes sense for the Red Devils to try and sign him on a cut-price deal this January or at the end of this campaign.<\/p>\n

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Recruit Welbeck In January?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Welbeck is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net and remains a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.<\/p>\n

The English forward has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and won\u2019t take any time to adjust to life at Man United<\/a>. However, he won\u2019t be a long-term fix to the Mancunian club\u2019s goal-scoring problems.<\/p>\n

Welbeck would no doubt add more depth to Ruben Amorim\u2019s frontline. He is still good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club. Furthermore, the English sensation could act as a good mentor to Benjamin Sesko, who has made a tough start to life at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
