In a recent report<\/a>, Fichajes claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Sevilla<\/a> winger Ruben Vargas. It has been stated that Spurs would have to rival Aston Villa in the race to land the Swiss wide player next year.<\/p>\n

Vargas\u2019 Impressive Rise In Spanish Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Vargas has made a great start to this La Liga campaign after putting in a few influential displays on the left side of Sevilla\u2019s attack. The 27-year-old has picked up three assists in three appearances for the Andalusian outfit this season across all fronts.<\/p>\n

The Swiss talent has caught the eye at times in the final third as he is averaging 1.71 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga<\/a>. He has kept 25% of his attempts on target. However, Vargas needs to improve his ball distribution after completing 67.2% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Spurs to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.<\/p>\n

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Move In For Vargas?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Vargas is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it on the left flank. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.<\/p>\n

The Swiss talent has done well to add a few assists to his game this season. However, he needs to score more goals from the wide areas. Vargas is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger or play in the number ten position if needed. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We can expect Vargas to enhance the quality of Tottenham<\/a> boss Thomas Frank\u2019s attack. He is good enough to compete with Xavi Simons for a regular starting spot at the North London club in the coming years.<\/p>\n
