Newcastle United entertained Brighton and Hove Albion at St. James\u2019 Park earlier this afternoon as they hoped to earn a win at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a dominant start to the contest but conceded the opening goal in the 35th minute when Danny Welbeck scored with a good finish. The Tyneside club failed to come up with a response and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.<\/p>\n

Eddie Howe\u2019s men failed to find the leveler in the second 45 minutes and crashed to a lackluster 1-0 loss in front of their home fans.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the match against the Seagulls.<\/p>\n

GK: Nick Pope \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a few crucial saves at the back but couldn\u2019t do much to stop Welbeck\u2019s strike in the first half.<\/p>\n

RB: Tino Livramento \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Livramento failed to keep things solid at the back and was underwhelming going forward.<\/p>\n

CB: Fabian Schar \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He got stuck in with a few crunching tackles and was good on the ball.<\/p>\n

CB: Dan Burn \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Burn earned possession back a few times but failed to keep a clean sheet.<\/p>\n

LB: Lewis Hall \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hall was a positive influence at both ends of the field.<\/p>\n

CM: Sandro Tonali \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He anchored the midfield well but offered very little in the final third.<\/p>\n

CM: Bruno Guimaraes \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guimaraes came back to defend when he could and was lively in the opponent\u2019s half.<\/p>\n

CM: Joelinton \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joelinton<\/a> worked his socks off at both ends of the field.<\/p>\n

RW: Jacob Murphy \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He caught the eye at times on the right flank but failed to register a goal.<\/p>\n

ST: Alexander Isak \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Isak was not shy of having a strike at goal but didn\u2019t have his finishing boots on this afternoon.<\/p>\n

LW: Anthony Gordon \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a real menace in the final third and was replaced late in the game.<\/p>\n

LW: Harvey Barnes \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Barnes caused some problems for the opposition after coming off the bench.<\/p>\n

CM: Joe Willock \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

His impact on the game was minimal.<\/p>\n

RW: Miguel Almiron \u2013 N\/A<\/strong><\/p>\n
