In a recent report<\/a>, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona<\/a> are among the clubs hoping to land Liverpool<\/a> defender Ibrahima Konate. It has been stated that the Catalan club would have to rival Real Madrid<\/a> and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to land the France international next year.<\/p>\n

Konate\u2019s Impressive Form In The Premier League<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Konate had a solid campaign at the Merseyside club in the previous campaign after he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The French talent made 42 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring two goals and earning two assists in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old was a rock at the back for Liverpool as he made 40 tackles, 29 blocks, 17 interceptions and 133 clearances in the Premier League<\/a>. He has even distributed the ball accurately from inside his half after completing 90.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Konate is under contract at the Merseyside club until the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Barcelona to snap him up on a free transfer next summer.<\/p>\n

Will Konate Be A Good Choice For Barcelona?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Konate is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and doesn\u2019t mind putting his body on the line to make some important last-ditch blocks.<\/p>\n

Standing at 1.94m, the France international can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, he has been quite injury-prone, which makes him a risky option for the Catalan club to consider at the end of this campaign.<\/p>\n

We can expect Konate to bring more bite and steel to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick\u2019s defence. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp. The French sensation could even help Barca challenge for some major honours over the next few years.<\/p>\n
