In a recent interview<\/a>, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Liverpool<\/a> are keeping tabs on Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordonez. Bailey said,<\/p>\n

\u201cI think for January we need to keep an eye on someone like Ordonez \u2013 the Ecuadorian lad from Brugge, a young but huge talent, or maybe Taras Mykhavko from Kiev \u2013 Liverpool are working on a number of options.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ordonez\u2019s Impressive Rise In Belgian Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 21-year-old has made a solid start to this campaign as he has put in a string of impressive displays for Club Brugge on the defensive end of the field. Ordonez has scored one goal in nine matches for the Belgian outfit this season, scoring one goal in multiple competitions.<\/p>\n

The Ecuadorian talent has been a solid presence when defending inside his half after he made four tackles, five blocks, three interceptions and 19 clearances in the Jupiler Pro League.<\/p>\n

He has even distributed the ball well from the back based on his pass completion rate of 92.3% in the Belgian top flight (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Is Ordonez A Good Fit For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ordonez is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.<\/p>\n

Standing at 1.88m, the Ecuadorian sensation can even use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League<\/a> if the Reds manage to bring him on board next year.<\/p>\n

Ordonez would add more bite and steel to Liverpool<\/a> head coach Arne Slot\u2019s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Anfield in the coming years.<\/p>\n

At 21, the future looks quite promising for Ordonez as long as he continues to improve with each year. Thus, Slot would be wise to go all out to bring him on board this January or at the end of this campaign.
