Newcastle United clashed heads with Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result away from home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a good start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 41st minute when Danny Welbeck found the back of the net. Eddie Howe\u2019s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.<\/p>\n

Nick Woltemade equalised for the Magpies in the 76th minute, but Welbeck ended up scoring again in the 84th minute as Newcastle crashed to a tough 2-1 loss away from home.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Newcastle United<\/a> player performed during the clash against the Seagulls.<\/p>\n

GK: Nick Pope \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a few solid saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.<\/p>\n

RB: Kieran Trippier \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trippier struggled to keep things solid inside his half but was a threat at times going forward.<\/p>\n

CB: Malick Thiaw \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He did his fair share of defending, but it was not enough today.<\/p>\n

CB: Sven Botman \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Botman put his foot through the ball when he could, but failed to keep Danny Welbeck quiet.<\/p>\n

LB: Dan Burn \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Burn gave a good account of himself defensively but lacked quality in the final third.<\/p>\n

CM: Bruno Guimaraes \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He managed to shine at times on both ends of the field.<\/p>\n

CM: Sandro Tonali \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tonali worked hard at the centre of the park but failed to make a difference going forward.<\/p>\n

CM: Joelinton \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He came back to defend when he could, but failed to impress in the Brighton half.<\/p>\n

RW: Anthony Elanga \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elanga was quiet for most of his time on the field.<\/p>\n

ST: Nick Woltemade \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a real handful for the opposition centre-backs and did well to score the equaliser in the 76th minute.<\/p>\n

LW: Anthony Gordon \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gordon caused a lot of headaches for the opposition defenders but failed to get his name on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n

RW: Jacob Murphy \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He managed to impress after coming on at half-time.<\/p>\n

CM: Lewis Miley \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Miley came off the bench and secured an assist.<\/p>\n

LW: Harvey Barnes \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He managed to shine at times on the left flank.<\/p>\n

CM: Jacob Ramsey \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

His impact on the game was minimal.<\/p>\n
