Liverpool will entertain Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday night as they look to secure a positive result at home in the EFL Cup. The Reds suffered a disappointing 3-2 loss away at Brentford recently, so they would be eager to get back to winning ways against the Eagles in midweek.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his first XI for this game. Federico Chiesa could play from the start of this contest, while Mohamed Salah makes way for him and drops to the bench.<\/p>\n

Defence<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Giorgi Mamardashvili will operate in between the sticks for the Reds after he shipped in three goals in his last outing. Joe Gomez will get a chance to impress alongside Ibrahima Konate at the centre of the Liverpool<\/a> backline as they look to keep the opposition at bay during the game.<\/p>\n

Conor Bradley will fill in as the right-back, while Andy Robertson hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.<\/p>\n

Virgil Van Dijk and Milos Kerkez will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.<\/p>\n

Midfield<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Dominic Szoboszlai will anchor the midfield along with Wataru Endo as they look to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park.<\/p>\n

The gifted trio of Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Federico Chiesa will play just ahead of them as part of Slot\u2019s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they want to engineer some inviting chances in the final third.<\/p>\n

Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if required.<\/p>\n

Attack<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Hugo Ekitike will lead the charge for the Merseyside club once again up top. He failed to register a goal against Brentford last weekend, so this game would be a good chance for him to return to his goal-scoring ways.<\/p>\n

Rio Ngumoha will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if needed.<\/p>\n
