In a recent report<\/a>, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Liverpool are in talks to land Borussia Dortmund<\/a> defender Nico Schlotterbeck. It has been mentioned that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the German centre-back to Anfield next year.<\/p>\n

Schlotterbeck\u2019s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Schlotterbeck has managed to be a rock at the back for Dortmund this season after putting in a run of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The German talent has been involved in 15 matches for his current employers in this campaign so far, scoring one goal and grabbing a couple of assists in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old has been a solid presence when defending inside his half as he has made 21 tackles, eight blocks, 11 interceptions and 44 clearances in the Bundesliga<\/a>. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 85.5% of his attempted passes in the German top flight (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

His current contract at the Signal Iduna Park will run out in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for the Reds to sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.<\/p>\n

Is Schlotterbeck A Good Choice For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Schlotterbeck is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn\u2019t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a good passer of the ball as well from the back.<\/p>\n

Standing at 1.91m, the German sensation is a strong presence in the air as well. However, only time will tell whether he can replicate his good form in the Premier League<\/a> if the Reds manage to get him on board next year.<\/p>\n

We can expect Schlotterbeck to bring more bite and steel to Liverpool<\/a> head coach Arne Slot\u2019s defence. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.<\/p>\n

At 26, Schlotterbeck has got his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider this winter or at the end of this campaign.
