Newcastle United entertained Chelsea at St. James\u2019 Park earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a great start to the game and got their noses ahead in the fourth minute when Nick Woltemade found the back of the net. Woltemade doubled his team\u2019s advantage in the 20th minute as Eddie Howe\u2019s men went into the half-time break 2-0 up on the scoreline.<\/p>\n

Reece James got a goal back for the visitors in the 49th minute with a great strike before Joao Pedro equalised for Chelsea in the 66th minute. The contest finished with Newcastle being held to an entertaining 2-2 draw at St. James\u2019 Park.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Newcastle United<\/a> player performed during the clash against the Blues.<\/p>\n

GK: Aaron Ramsdale \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a couple of solid saves at the back and was tidy with his distribution.<\/p>\n

RB: Lewis Miley \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Miley performed his defensive duties well and made one decent run with the ball.<\/p>\n

CB: Malick Thiaw \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a few crucial interceptions for his team, but failed to keep the opposition attackers quiet in the second half.<\/p>\n

CB: Fabian Schar \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Schar cleared the danger when he could and was a strong presence in the air.<\/p>\n

LB: Lewis Hall \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He came back to defend when needed and made one good chance going forward.<\/p>\n

CM: Bruno Guimaraes \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guimaraes caught the eye at times in the middle of the park but offered very little in the final third.<\/p>\n

CM: Sandro Tonali \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He anchored the midfield well but lacked quality in the final third.<\/p>\n

CM: Jacob Ramsey \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ramsey put in a hard-working performance in the middle of the park and was replaced in the 88th minute.<\/p>\n

RW: Jacob Murphy \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He caused some headaches for his marker and managed to create a few inviting chances in the final third.<\/p>\n

ST: Nick Woltemade \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Woltemade did well to score a brace in the first half, but it was not enough for the Magpies to secure the win.<\/p>\n

LW: Anthony Gordon \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a constant menace in the final third and ended the game with an assist to his name.<\/p>\n

He failed to take his chances.<\/p>\n
