If a recent report from The Daily Record<\/a> is believed to be true, Rangers are keeping close tabs on Jens Hjerto-Dahl, the Tromso midfield ace, ahead of a potential January transfer. Lars Petter Kaemer-Andressen, the sporting director of the Norwegian outfit, is aware of the interest and could demand a fee of around \u00a33.5m for the former Sunderland and Sheffield United target.<\/p>\n

Rohl has slowly turned things around at Ibrox after a dismal inception under former boss Russell Martin. The majority of their summer arrivals have failed to deliver, and the German chief has admitted the necessity of strengthening the spine by roping in at least one centre-back, holding midfielder and centre-forward to his existing squad.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old Norwegian youth international progressed through Tromso\u2019s academy ranks before impressing for their reserves in the third division. He received the first-team promotion a couple of years back and has since featured regularly in all competitions. With four goals and seven assists in 30 Eliteserien outings, the youngster has depicted his excellence throughout the current campaign.<\/p>\n

Why Rangers Should Step Up The Hunt<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rangers<\/a> have ample depth in the centre of the pitch. Connor Barron, Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande, Kieran Dowell and Bailey Rice were already there at the club before Martin\u2019s arrival. Yet the club snapped up Lyall Cameron, Joe Rothwell and Thelo Aasgaard. However, none of them has delivered in their respective roles, particularly Aasgaard and Rothwell, despite being well-known names in the English Championship.<\/p>\n

Rothwell, no longer in Rohl\u2019s plans, is expected to part ways in the summer amid interest<\/a> from Sheffield United, whereas Cameron has yet to prove his worth with limited opportunities so far as a \u2018number 8\u2019. Aasgaard, more suited as an advanced playmaker, offers a different kind of threat, and the over-reliance on Raskin, Barron and Diomande could lead to fatigue and fitness towards the backend of the ongoing season.<\/p>\n

Hjerto-Dahl, who idolises \u00a0Paul Pogba,\u00a0Sergio Busquets, and\u00a0Ivan Rakiti\u0107, is regarded for his physicality, composure with the ball on his feet, vision and technicality.
