In a recent interview with Football Insider<\/a>, former scout Mick Brown revealed that Liverpool have identified Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as a target. Brown said,<\/p>\n

\u201cBastoni is a player I\u2019ve always been a big admirer of.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a fantastic defender and has been brilliant for Inter Milan for a long period of time now, so it\u2019s no surprise these types of clubs are looking at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool have been keeping a close eye on him because they see him as somebody who would be an improvement on what they\u2019ve got at the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe would be a great asset to any club, and one I would certainly recommend they go for.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re not sure what\u2019s happening with Konate, that\u2019s still very much up in the air, and Van Dijk hasn\u2019t looked like his usual dominant self this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s the type of deal Liverpool have to be considering, because they have to be prepared for any possibility if they might need to bring players in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bastoni\u2019s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 26-year-old is having a solid campaign at the Milan club after he put in a string of impressive displays at the heart of their backline. Bastoni has played in 20 matches for Inter this season, netting one goal and grabbing five assists across all competitions.<\/p>\n

The Italian talent has been a rock at the back as he has made 31 tackles, ten blocks, 13 interceptions and 43 clearances in Serie A<\/a>. He has even distributed possession from inside his half based on his pass completion rate of 85% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

What Will Bastoni Bring To Liverpool?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bastoni is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.<\/p>\n

We can expect Bastoni to bring more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot\u2019s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.<\/p>\n
