In a recent report<\/a>, AS claimed that Chelsea<\/a> are keen on re-signing Real Madrid<\/a> defender Antonio Rudiger. It has been mentioned that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the German centre-back next year.<\/p>\n

Rudiger\u2019s Recent Form In Spanish Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rudiger has served as a useful cog in Xabi Alonso\u2019s squad this season. However, frequent injuries have derailed the German\u2019s progress at the Madrid club.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old has featured in 12 matches for Los Blancos this season across all competitions. When fit, Rudiger remains an important member of Real Madrid\u2019s match-day squad but has often found himself behind Dean Huijsen and Raul Asencio in Alonso\u2019s pecking order.<\/p>\n

His current contract at the Madrid club will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for the Blues to re-sign him on a free transfer next summer.<\/p>\n

Should Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Bring Rudiger Back?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rudiger is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the oppostion are on the offensive and can make some last-ditch blocks for his team.<\/p>\n

Standing at 1.90m, the German defensive ace can use his strong presence to win a few 50-50 duels in the air as well. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League from his previous spell at Chelsea and won\u2019t take much time to adjust to life at the West London club.<\/p>\n

However, it remains to be seen whether Rudiger can steer clear of injuries and get his career back on track. He is currently on an expiring contract, which makes him a great option for the Blues to consider at the end of this season. We can expect Rudiger to bring more quality and experience to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca\u2019s defence.<\/p>\n

The German talent is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge if he can prove his fitness. He might even help the Blues compete for some major honours over the next few years.
