The 26-year-old Uruguay international progressed through the academy ranks of Juventud Unida de Paysand\u00fa and Defensor Sporting before breaking into the latter\u2019s senior side in the top-flight of Uruguayan football. He left Defensor for Penarol in August 2021 and continued to flourish in the Primera Divisi\u00f3n. His spell in the homeland earned him a \u20ac690k transfer to Red Bull Bragantino in the Brazilian Serie A.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A loan spell with Santos in the second tier helped him attune to the new surroundings. Why Celtic Should Give It A Go<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Predominantly a right-winger, the attacking ace has often featured from the left as an inverted wide playmaker. He is also effective as a \u2018number 10\u2019 for his through balls and creative spark in and around the final third. His relationship with Marcelo Saracchi should streamline the transfer, as the on-loan Celtic left-back wore the Uruguay armband when Laquintana marked his debut with a winner.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hoops had a dreadful summer window, as they failed to restore quality following high-profile departures. The board acted late by roping in Sebastian Tounekti and Michel-Ange Balikwisha; however, neither has delivered so far, particularly the latter, who has struggled for minutes, having failed to impress over the past few months.<\/p>\n
