In a recent report<\/a>, Fichajes stated that Sunderland<\/a> are ready to move in for Real Madrid<\/a> defender Ferland Mendy. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats are willing to make an \u20ac11m offer to land the French left-back.<\/p>\n

Mendy\u2019s Recent Form In Spanish Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mendy has served as a decent rotational piece in Xabi Alonso\u2019s match-day squad in this campaign so far. However, the French talent has only made three appearances for Los Blancos this season across various competitions.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old has to find a way to earn more playing opportunities if he wants to get his career back on track. Hence, Sunderland could offer him a platform to showcase what he still has to offer.<\/p>\n

His current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap before the end of this January transfer window.<\/p>\n

Should Sunderland Boss R\u00e9gis Le Bris Snap Mendy Up?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mendy loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer as well.<\/p>\n

The French defensive ace has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. Mendy is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a centre-back if needed. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to get a deal done for him<\/p>\n

We can expect Mendy to bring more quality and depth to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris\u2019s defence. He has got the experience to be a real asset in the Wearside club\u2019s squad in the coming years.<\/p>\n

At 30, Mendy has still got a few good years left in him to play at his best. Thus, Sunderland would be wise to try everything they can to snap him up before the end of this winter transfer period. However, Le Bris has to give him some time to adjust to life at the Stadium of Light before he can get the best out of the player.
