They hope to finally end this confusing back-and-forth. Because of the delay, the Italian side are getting desperate to sign Harrison right away. They need more players fast if they want to avoid a messy relegation battle. Things started off smoothly, and it looked like the player would definitely leave Elland Road soon.<\/p>\n

However, things went downhill yesterday when Leeds United suddenly changed the terms. The Whites walked away from the original plan for a loan with an option to buy. Instead, they asked for a loan deal that includes a forced \u00a315 million buyout later. This surprise demand made Fiorentina back off, and the talks ground to a halt.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Gianluca Di Marzio, via Sport Witness, gave a different update this morning. He says there aren\u2019t any big problems left and expects Harrison to fly to Florence shortly. Leeds United need to be realistic to get this finished. Daniel Farke has barely used Harrison this season. He has only given the winger 263 minutes of league play. It\u2019s clear Harrison doesn\u2019t really fit into the manager\u2019s current plans.<\/p>\n

Keeping a player on a high salary on the sidelines is just bad business, especially when another club want him. Therefore, the club should focus on getting his wages off the books. They shouldn\u2019t risk the whole deal by being stubborn about a guaranteed fee.<\/p>\n

Fiorentina are in a tough spot in the standings, so they have to take some financial risks. Even so, Leeds can\u2019t expect a guaranteed \u00a315 million from a club that might drop to the second division. A middle ground is the only thing that makes sense.<\/p>\n

The clubs will probably agree on a buyout clause that only kicks in if Fiorentina secures Serie A survival. Such an arrangement protects the Italians from going broke if they get relegated, while still giving Leeds a good chance at a future payout.
