This shift gives Leeds United a real chance to land the striker for a bargain fee this month. Wyness told Football Insider that the Molineux club face a tough reality where they must negotiate rather than demand a premium.

Leeds United Tipped for £20m Bargain Raid on Wolves Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen

He suggested the forward could leave for £20–25 million. It is a figure sitting well below his reported £40 million asking price. The ex-Aberdeen CEO is sceptical about a potential bidding war. He argues that while interest exists, few clubs would meet such a high price for a player struggling to stay consistent in a side fighting relegation.

Beyond the price tag, Wyness noted that Wolves should prioritise a squad rebuild for the Championship, as their Premier League status remains in serious danger. He urged the club’s bosses to focus on signing players ready for a second-tier promotion push rather than holding onto assets whose value might drop even more.

Looking at it this way, Leeds United look like a sensible choice. Wyness named Elland Road as a strong option for the Norwegian international. He notes that such a move would allow Wolves to raise much-needed cash while Leeds would gain a proven physical presence up front.

“I think Wolves are going to have to negotiate. I don’t think there is an auction for him. While there’s been interest, I don’t see anybody really stepping up for him.

“I still have a big question mark over him. I think £40m is just too high a price. I think he’s going to go somewhere between 20 to 25. I think Wolves would actually be best served getting some sort of player deals together, trying to rebuild some of the players, perhaps in their older years, that are going to be in the Championship.

“And they’ve got to start thinking about that sort of situation in reality, because we all know it’s a different squad that’s required in the Championship to come bouncing back up, and I think that Strand Larsen, that’s possibly one way to look at it, because I don’t think they’re going to maximise the value for him.

“Leeds could be an option. We’ll talk about some of Leeds’ other strikers just now, but I think yes, I think that’s what Wolves should be looking at, is players, I think, to try and rebuild more than anything else.”

Does Strand Larsen Fit the Bill for Leeds?

WOLVERHAMPTON, ENGLAND – JANUARY 18: Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolverhampton Wanderers in action during the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United at Molineux on January 18, 2026 in Wolverhampton, England. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)

Leeds United sit in a shaky but manageable position. Grabbing Jorgen Strand Larsen for £20 million is a calculated gamble worth taking. The striker has had a tough 2025/26 campaign, scoring just once in 20 games for a struggling Wolves side. However, his quality has remained evident through his 14-goal haul the previous season.

Leeds need a physical target man to take the weight off their current attackers. Strand Larsen’s ability to hold the ball up fits Daniel Farke’s style perfectly. At £40 million, the club would be reckless to sign him given his current form. However, at the suggested £20–25 million range, Leeds would secure a striker who has already proven he can produce in the top flight. He simply needs a more stable environment to find his best form again.
