Aston Villa will lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James\u2019 Park earlier today as they hoped to earn a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Villans made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 19th minute when Emi Buendia found the back of the net. Unai Emery\u2019s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.<\/p>\n

Ollie Watkins killed the game off in the 88th minute as Aston Villa secured a solid 2-0 win away from home.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Aston Villa<\/a> player fared during the clash against the Magpies.<\/p>\n

GK: Emiliano Martinez \u2013 8.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Martinez made his fair share of saves at the back and did enough to earn a clean sheet this afternoon.<\/p>\n

RB: Matty Cash \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He cleared the danger when he could, but struggled to influence the game going forward.<\/p>\n

CB: Ezri Konsa \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He cleared his lines when needed and was tidy with his ball distribution.<\/p>\n

CB: Pau Torres \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Torres didn\u2019t do much wrong when defending inside his half and was a strong presence in the air.<\/p>\n

LB: Ian Maatsen \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He performed his defensive duties well and offered very little inside the opponent\u2019s half.<\/p>\n

CM: Amadou Onana \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Onana caught the eye at times on both ends of the field.<\/p>\n

CM: Youri Tielemans \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He anchored the midfield with conviction and made two good chances in the final third.<\/p>\n

RW: Jadon Sancho \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sancho made one good run with the ball and was replaced in the 58th minute.<\/p>\n

CAM: Morgan Rogers \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He worked hard defensively and was a constant menace in the final third. Rogers ended the game with an assist to his name.<\/p>\n

Buendia was a constant menace in the final third and scored the opener in the 19th minute.<\/p>\n

He was a real threat up top and managed to get his name on the scoresheet late in the game.<\/p>\n
