Leeds United manager Daniel Farke seems set on keeping Joel Piroe at Elland Road this month. This move effectively blocks a potential January exit for the Dutch forward. However, transfer expert Pete O\u2019Rourke<\/a> has downplayed the chances of a deal happening before the window shuts. Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, O\u2019Rourke noted that Piroe has played a huge part in Leeds\u2019 recent success. He secured the Championship Golden Boot with 19 league goals during the club\u2019s promotion campaign.<\/p>\n

Despite this, the Suriname forward has struggled to get regular Premier League minutes this season. Even so, O\u2019Rourke insists that Farke sees the striker as a vital part of his squad setup. O\u2019Rourke added that Leeds United<\/a> have managed to build a comfortable gap from the relegation zone.<\/p>\n

However, Farke is still worried about leaving his attacking options thin. The West Yorkshire club will likely turn down any offers for Piroe unless they bring in new faces. This ensures they have enough cover in case other forwards get injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cI still think Piroe is a difficult deal to do. Although he\u2019s not been a regular for Leeds this season, I still think he\u2019s still a key member of Daniel Farke\u2019s side.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHe won\u2019t really want to lose him anytime soon, he\u2019ll want to keep him around. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Obviously Leeds are having a good run of form in the Premier League moving further clear of relegation trouble, but Farke won\u2019t want to weaken his squad in case there are any injuries to any of his other attacking players. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cUnless Leeds are to bring in further attacking reinforcements, I think they\u2019ll be quite reluctant to let Piroe go.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, the Premier League is unforgiving, and teams need depth. Leeds have done well in the first half of the season to stay away from immediate danger. Yet, the margins in the top flight are still very tight. An injury to a key starter could ruin their momentum completely.
