The January transfer window is now entering its final hours. According to former Goodison Park chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, the Toffees see the 25-year-old Frenchman as a potential replacement for Beto, who has fallen out of favour.

Wilson Isidor Linked With Late Everton Switch As Beto Exit Rumours Intensify

Wyness suggests this straight deal depends entirely on Beto leaving Merseyside before the deadline. David Moyes reportedly likes Beto’s attitude, but the manager prefers Thierno Barry as his main striker. So, Isidor remains a potential quick deal if a spot opens up in Everton’s attack tonight.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think that’s going to be a straight deal. If Beto goes, then I think he [Isidor] would be coming in as backup, but I don’t know if the Beto deal is going to get done from what I’m hearing.

“There are some issues. I think Moyes quite likes Beto, likes his attitude and training. And I think he may just stick with the [Thierno] Barry combination with Beto coming on at the end. That seems to be sort of starting to produce some sort of benefit.

“Obviously not as much as they’d hoped, but still that’s the one area, though. But if Beto does go, then I think Isidor may be one option that could come in. There are a couple of others that we’re looking at, but I don’t think any are as far advanced, certainly as Isidor at the moment as a potential quick deal to be done.”

Can Isidor Solve Everton’s Striker Problem?

The rush for new players comes from Beto’s clear struggles throughout the 2025/26 season. The Guinea-Bissau international has had a rough time. He has scored only two goals in 23 Premier League games, playing most of these as short, ineffective appearances off the bench.

Since Thierno Barry hit top form, scoring four times in his last five games, Moyes has kept Beto out of the starting lineup. Beto’s struggle to change games was clear during a messy 45-minute appearance against Brentford earlier this month. This has convinced Moyes and the Goodison board that they need a fresh face.

But is Wilson Isidor the answer?

SUNDERLAND, ENGLAND – DECEMBER 14: Wilson Isidor of Sunderland and team mates celebrate victory after the Premier League match between Sunderland and Newcastle United at Stadium of Light on December 14, 2025 in Sunderland, England. (Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images)

The Sunderland striker’s numbers do not look great. Isidor has struggled at the Stadium of Light with just four goals in 20 Premier League matches this season. He recently lost his own starting spot to Brian Brobbey.

Swapping one struggling forward for another is a big risk for Moyes. However, Isidor brings speed and can play different roles, which Beto lacks. This could fit the manager’s counter-attacking style better than using a target man who stays in one spot.

Realistically, this deal is on the edge. The window will shut very soon. The club take a big risk by trying to finish a deal that depends on another player moving. Unless Beto gets a quick move, maybe to a team in Italy, Moyes will likely stick with what he has. Isidor looks like a last-minute backup plan rather than a long-term move. However, in the final hours of January, teams often make moves out of pure desperation.

Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor has emerged as a shock late target for Everton.
