Liverpool entertained Newcastle United at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Reds made a slow start to the game and conceded the opener in the 36th minute when Anthony Gordon found the back of the net. However, Hugo Ekitike equalised for the Merseyside club just five minutes later before giving them the lead in the 43rd minute. Arne Slot\u2019s men were leading 2-1 at the half-time break.<\/p>\n

Florian Wirtz put daylight between the two sides in the 67th minute before Ibrahima Konate added another goal in injury time. The match ended with Liverpool securing a dominant 4-1 win at Anfield.<\/p>\n

GK: Alisson Becker \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Brazilian keeper made one good save at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.<\/p>\n

RB: Dominik Szoboszlai \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He worked hard at both ends of the field, but there was no goal for him.<\/p>\n

CB: Ibrahima Konate \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Konate was a rock at the back and managed to score late in the game.<\/p>\n

CB: Virgil Van Dijk \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t do much wrong when defending inside his half and would be pleased to limit the opposition to just one goal.<\/p>\n

LB: Milos Kerkez \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He cleared his lines when he could and was lively in the final third. Kerkez has got an assist to show for his efforts.<\/p>\n

CM: Alexis Mac Allister \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mac Allister was a positive influence on both halves but failed to threaten the Newcastle goal.<\/p>\n

CM: Ryan Gravenberch \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He anchored the midfield well and ran the show inside the opponent\u2019s half.<\/p>\n

RW: Mohamed Salah \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Salah was a real menace on the right flank, but there was no goal for him. He picked up an assist for setting up Wirtz\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n

CAM: Florian Wirtz \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a constant threat in the final third and ended the game with a goal and an assist to his name.<\/p>\n

LW: Cody Gakpo \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gakpo made a lot of dangerous runs with the ball but struggled to find the back of the net.<\/p>\n

ST: Hugo Ekitike \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He scored two goals in the first half, which made the difference for Liverpool tonight.<\/p>\n
