In a recent report<\/a>, Liverpool Echo revealed that Liverpool<\/a> have agreed on a deal to land Stade Rennais defender Jeremy Jacquet. It is believed that the Reds have come to a pre-agreement to sign the French centre-back for an initial fee of \u00a355m at the end of this campaign.<\/p>\n

Jacquet\u2019s Impressive Rise In French Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 20-year-old has caught the eye at times with his performances at the centre of Rennes\u2019 backline in this campaign so far. Jacquet has featured in 19 matches for the French outfit this season across all fronts.<\/p>\n

The French talent is currently among the best young centre-backs in Ligue 1. Hence, the Reds have done well to get a deal over the line for him to join in the summer.<\/p>\n

His current contract at Rennes will run out in the summer of 2029. Therefore, it is no surprise that Liverpool have agreed to pay an initial fee of \u00a355m to acquire his services at the end of this campaign.<\/p>\n

What Will Jacquet Bring To Liverpool?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Jacquet is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can use his strong 1.90m frame to win a few important aerial duels for his team.<\/p>\n

However, it remains to be seen whether the French sensation can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League<\/a> when he joins the Reds in the summer. Plus, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in English football.<\/p>\n

We can expect Jacquet to bring more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot\u2019s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club.<\/p>\n

At 20, Jacquet has got the potential to be a future star in the Premier League as long as he continues to improve with each season. However, Slot has to give him some time to adjust to life in England before he can unlock the best out of the gifted defender.
