Alan Shearer has gone on the record to back Leeds United<\/a> in their scrap to stay in the Premier League. He points to their strong run at Elland Road as the big reason why they\u2019ll make it. While appearing on Match of the Day<\/a>, the league\u2019s all-time top scorer said the rowdy atmosphere in West Yorkshire gives them a massive leg up over the other teams at the bottom.
Speaking about the relegation race, Shearer said: \u201cLeeds will be alright, I think, because of the home form. Really strong at home.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The team have been hot and cold all season. Even so, Shearer is convinced the Whites have enough talent to avoid going back down to the Championship. He believes their home games are the key to staying up. He said their strength in front of their own fans will be what ultimately keeps them safe.<\/p>\n

As of February 9, 2026, things are still tight at the bottom of the table, but Daniel Farke\u2019s side have a real fighting chance. Leeds are sitting 16th right now with 29 points. They are neck-and-neck with Tottenham and sit three points above the relegation zone.<\/p>\n

This follows a massive 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest last Friday. Dominic Calvert-Lewin kept his scoring streak going in that game, hitting double digits for the season. That performance backs up exactly what Shearer is saying. The 55-year-old former England captain has been through it all before, so he knows a thing or two about playing under pressure.<\/p>\n

Leeds United have shown plenty of heart throughout this 2025\/26 season. They\u2019ve had some rough days on the road, but they\u2019ve made up for it with some massive nights at Elland Road. Farke has built a team that roll up their sleeves and fights for everything.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s true even if they aren\u2019t quite as slick as the top six clubs. In our honest opinion, Leeds will be playing Premier League football again next year. Calvert-Lewin knows how to find the back of the net, and the crowd brings an energy that teams like West Ham and Burnley just can\u2019t match. It\u2019ll likely go right down to the wire. But that win against Forest showed they\u2019ve got the stomach for a scrap.
