Newcastle United faced off against Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League earlier this evening as they looked to secure a win on the road. The Magpies made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the third minute thanks to Anthony Gordon\u2019s effort. Malick Thiaw doubled his side\u2019s advantage in the eighth minute before Gordon struck again in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot. Gordon completed his hat-trick a minute later before scoring again from the penalty spot in injury time. Eddie Howe\u2019s men were leading 5-0 at the half-time break.<\/p>\n

Elvin Cafarguliyev got a goal back for the home side in the 54th minute before Jacob Murphy scored Newcastle\u2019s sixth goal in the 72nd minute. The match ended with Newcastle securing a dominant 6-1 win away from home.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Newcastle United<\/a> player fared during the clash against Qarabag.<\/p>\n

GK: Nick Pope \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made one good save at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.<\/p>\n

RB: Kieran Trippier \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trippier was a positive influence at both ends of the field and has got an assist to show for his efforts.<\/p>\n

CB: Malick Thiaw \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He put his foot through the ball when he could and was a threat at the other end of the field. Thiaw won his fair share of aerial duels.<\/p>\n

CB: Dan Burn \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Burn gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and was a strong presence in the air.<\/p>\n

He was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch and was tidy with his passing.<\/p>\n

CM: Sandro Tonali \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tonali anchored the midfield well and made one good chance going forward.<\/p>\n

CM: Joe Willock \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He managed to shine at times on both halves.<\/p>\n

RW: Anthony Elanga \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elanga made two decent chances in the final third but failed to register a goal.<\/p>\n

CAM: Nick Woltemade \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made one positive run with the ball but failed to threaten the opponent\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n

LW: Harvey Barnes \u2013 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Barnes was a constant menace in the final third and has got an assist to show for his efforts.<\/p>\n

ST: Anthony Gordon \u2013 10\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gordon scored four times in the first half to help the Magpies earn a dominant win tonight. He deserves to be named the man of the match.<\/p>\n
