Newcastle United welcomed Manchester City at St. James\u2019 Park earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a win at home in the FA Cup. The Magpies made a decent start to the game and scored the opener in the 18th minute when Harvey Barnes got his name on the scoresheet. Savinho equalised for the visitors in the 39th minute as the two sides went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.<\/p>\n

Omar Marmoush scored a quick-fire brace in the second 45 minutes. Eddie Howe\u2019s men ended up crashing to a tough 3-1 loss in front of their home fans.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Newcastle United<\/a> player fared during the clash against Man City.<\/p>\n

GK: Aaron Ramsdale \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made his fair share of saves during the game, but still ended up conceding three times tonight.<\/p>\n

RB: Kieran Trippier \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trippier came back to defend when he could, but struggled to influence the game going forward.<\/p>\n

CB: Sven Botman \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He failed to keep things solid on the defensive end of the pitch.<\/p>\n

CB: Malick Thiaw \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thiaw was far from convincing defensively and failed to keep the opposition attackers quiet.<\/p>\n

LB: Lewis Hall \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hall worked hard when defending inside his half<\/p>\n

CM: Sandro Tonali \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a bright start to the game but failed to get into the flow of the game in the second 45 minutes.<\/p>\n

CM: Joe Willock \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Willock caught the eye at times but failed to impress in the final third.<\/p>\n

RW: Harvey Barnes \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Barnes managed to put his team ahead with a great effort in the 18th minute.<\/p>\n

CAM: Nick Woltemade \u2013 5.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He failed to catch the eye during his time on the pitch.<\/p>\n

LW: Anthony Elanga \u2013 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elanga caused some headaches for his marker on the left flank but failed to get his name on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n

He worked hard but lacked quality and invention on the offensive end of the field.<\/p>\n
