The club\u2019s sporting director, Antonio Cord\u00f3n, has placed the 24-year-old Scotland international at the top of his wishlist for next season.<\/p>\n

Sevilla reportedly view Patterson as one of two main targets, alongside Getafe\u2019s Juan Iglesias, who will be a free agent in June. This interest isn\u2019t exactly new; rumours linked the two clubs back in January when Everton allegedly floated a deal involving \u20ac15m plus Patterson on loan for Sevilla\u2019s rising star Juanlu S\u00e1nchez. That move fell through when Juanlu decided to stay, but Cord\u00f3n clearly hasn\u2019t crossed Patterson\u2019s name off his list.<\/p>\n

Sevilla\u2019s move is driven largely by their need to balance the books. The club plan to sell both Juanlu and Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Carmona this summer to bring in much-needed cash, which will leave manager Mat\u00edas Almeyda looking for quality options on the right flank that won\u2019t break the bank. Reports suggest Sevilla have already reached a verbal agreement with Iglesias, and they see Patterson as the perfect second piece of the puzzle, though they\u2019ll likely push for a loan to keep their wage bill in check.<\/p>\n

This situation leaves David Moyes with a tough call to make. Patterson has managed only 355 minutes<\/a> across seven games this season, which says everything about where he currently sit in the pecking order. With a contract running until 2027 and Transfermarkt currently valuing him at \u20ac10m<\/a>, Everton actually have some decent bargaining power here. However, letting him go to Sevilla on loan, as the Spanish side want,\u00a0doesn\u2019t do much for Everton. They wouldn\u2019t get a transfer fee up front and would lose a player they could otherwise sell for cold, hard cash.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt Patterson has talent; he is quick, aggressive in transition, and dangerous with his delivery from deep positions. But with Everton settled at Bramley-Moore Dock and trying to build momentum, Everton should better convert a peripheral figure commanding a \u20ac10m valuation into immediate transfer income.<\/p>\n

Looking at the bigger picture, Moyes probably needs that money to bolster the centre of the pitch more than he needs a backup right-back who rarely plays.
