Aston Villa faced off against Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy earlier this evening as they looked to secure a good result in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League last 16 tie. The Villans made a solid start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.<\/p>\n

Ollie Watkins finally broke the deadlock in the 61st minute as Unai Emery\u2019s men secured a narrow 1-0 win away from home.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at how each Aston Villa<\/a> player fared during the clash against Lille.<\/p>\n

GK: Emiliano Martinez \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a few solid saves during the game and did enough to secure the clean sheet this evening.<\/p>\n

RB: Lamare Bogarde \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bogarde performed his defensive duties well and made one good chance going forward.<\/p>\n

CB: Ezri Konsa \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He cleared his lines when he could and did well to keep the opposition at bay during the game.<\/p>\n

CB: Pau Torres \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Spanish defensive ace dealt with the danger when needed and was a strong presence in the air.<\/p>\n

LB: Lucas Digne \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Digne performed his defensive duties well but offered very little in the final third.<\/p>\n

RW: Jadon Sancho \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a positive influence at both ends of the field.<\/p>\n

CM: Douglas Luiz \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Luiz got stuck in with some crunching tackles and was good on the ball.<\/p>\n

CM: Amadou Onana \u2013 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He made a few crucial interceptions at the centre of the park and made one promising run with the ball as well. Onana was unfortunate to hit the post.<\/p>\n

LW: Morgan Rogers \u2013 6.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rogers caused some headaches for his marker and came back to defend when required.<\/p>\n

ST: Ollie Watkins \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a real handful for the Lille defenders and managed to score the only goal of this contest in the 61st minute.<\/p>\n

ST: Emi Buendia \u2013 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Buendia engineered a couple of decent chances for his teammates to score and has got an assist to show for his efforts.<\/p>\n

He added some energy to Emery\u2019s midfield.<\/p>\n
