If a recent transfer update from The Daily Mail\u2019s Craig Hope<\/a> is believed to be true, Sunderland are sweating over the future of Finn Geragusian, who will be a free agent this summer and is drawing interest from Rangers north of the border. But the Glasgow giants are not alone in the hunt, with Nottingham Forest also keen on the teenage centre-forward.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old Black Cats youngster has impressed across the U18s and U21s, having scored 13 times in 26 appearances in all competitions. Although he has yet to earn his first-team debut in the Mackems colours, his form with the reserves has earned him his first senior call-up for Armenia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are calling him up to help with that transition and give him a push in his development. At the moment, we have a huge problem in the attacking line, so I am looking at every possible option. While Geragusian is relishing his development at Wearside, Sunderland<\/a> could lose their prized asset for a minuscule fee. He is currently on a scholarship contract, and according to FIFA rules, a development fee of around \u20ac200k would be enough for any foreign club to snap him up this summer.<\/p>\n

The Progress With The Reserves<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Geragusian was a part of Sunderland\u2019s FA Cup squad for the fixtures against Oxford United and Port Vale. Despite being an unused substitute on both occasions, the attacking prodigy enjoyed the experience of travelling down with the first team, as revealed to the club\u2019s in-house media team<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n

Rangers<\/a> parted ways with Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane last year and roped in Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti as like-for-like replacements up top. However, the lack of conversion forced them to explore the market once again in the winter window, leading to the arrival of Ryan Naderi from the third tier of German football.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Miovski does not suit in Danny Rohl\u2019s style of play, and Naderi, despite featuring week in and week out, needs to attune to the aggression and physicality of the Scottish game. Chermiti has fired in big games, but the young Portuguese has to be more consistent as an outright \u2018number 9\u2019.<\/p>\n

The potential signing of Geragusian would resemble Celtic\u2019s move for Callum Osmand, who was thriving with opportunities before sustaining a season-ending injury. The Armenian might not be handed an immediate start, but he holds all the traits to script a success story in the long run.
