In a recent report<\/a>, Sunderland Echo revealed that Sunderland are in the running to land Ajax youngster Jorthy Mokio. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats could face competition from Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the race to sign the Belgian talent this summer.<\/p>\n

Mokio\u2019s Impressive Rise In Dutch Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mokio is having a decent campaign at the Dutch club as he has put in a series of influential displays for them at the centre of the park. The 18-year-old has registered four goals and grabbed two assists in 31 matches for Ajax this season across various competitions.<\/p>\n

The Belgian sensation is currently among the best young midfielders in the Dutch Eredivisie. Thus, it is no wonder that the Black Cats are keeping tabs on his progress ahead of a potential move this summer.<\/p>\n

His current contract at Ajax will expire at the end of next season, which could open the door for Sunderland to sign him on the cheap later this year.<\/p>\n

Sunderland Are In The Running To Land Mokio: Is He A Prospect For The Future?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mokio is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to make a few important interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn\u2019t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net.<\/p>\n

The Belgian whizkid can strike the ball with venom from long range and is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League<\/a> if the Black Cats manage to get him on board this summer.<\/p>\n

Mokio would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris\u2019s attack. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the Stadium of Light next season.<\/p>\n
