Brighton currently lead the race to sign Sao Paulo midfielder Dami\u00e1n Bobadilla. According to Football Insider, the Seagulls have moved ahead of Celtic and several other clubs. Journalist Pete O\u2019Rourke<\/a> explained the situation on the Transfer Insider podcast. He noted that the 24-year-old Paraguayan caught the eye of many European teams after strong performances in Brazil\u2019s Serie A.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, he\u2019s a player who\u2019s done really well in Brazil for Sao Paulo. It\u2019ll be a difficult deal for Celtic to do because of the rival interest that\u2019s in Bobadilla. As you said, you\u2019ve got the likes of Brighton, Brentford and Real Betis in La Liga all interested in him as well. They\u2019ll have the finances to outbid Celtic. Brighton have a good record of recruiting from South America, which could play in their favour.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThey would be able to offer better terms to Bobadilla as well, so it would be a real tough ask for Celtic to try and beat them in a race for him. I just feel with the rival interest from Premier League clubs and elsewhere, it\u2019ll be difficult for Celtic to do.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Bobadilla joined S\u00e3o Paulo in January 2024. He currently has a market value of roughly \u20ac4 million.<\/p>\n

He made his debut in June 2024 and played in the Copa Am\u00e9rica. This gives him plenty of international experience at just 24.
