If a recent report from The Daily Record<\/a> is believed to be true, both Rangers and Celtic are keeping close tabs on Tyrese Campbell\u2019s contract situation at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United have him tied down until the end of the 2026-2027 campaign, but a summer exit remains a possibility, with the Blades struggling at the wrong end of the Championship standings.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old former England youth international progressed through the academy ranks of Manchester City and Stoke City before breaking into the latter\u2019s first-team squad while they were fighting for survival during the 2018-19 Premier League season.<\/p>\n

Having failed to retain their top-flight status, the Potters sent him out on loan to Shrewsbury Town the following season for regular gametime. An impressive stint in League One earned him a key status in Stoke\u2019s frontline, and despite interest from the Glasgow giants, Campbell penned an extension in January 2020. However, he eventually ran his contract down and completed a Bosman switch to fellow Championship outfit Sheffield United in the summer of 2024.<\/p>\n

Emergence In The English Championship<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The centre-forward netted in last season\u2019s play-off final, but suffered a heartbreak when Sunderland scripted a late comeback en route to clinching the Premier League status. Sheffield United were supposed to go again for promotion, but the decision to appoint Rub\u00e9n Sell\u00e9s as Chris Wilder\u2019s successor was a calamitous call, as the Spaniard was relieved from his duties after a pointless start. Wilder was reappointed in September, but the South Yorkshire side are only heading towards a mid-table finish with seven league games left.<\/p>\n

Campbell has so far scored six goals and laid on two more in 34 Championship appearances. While it remains to be seen whether he matches last season\u2019s numbers, United could sanction a departure in the upcoming summer window rather than losing him for nothing a year later.<\/p>\n

Why Celtic And Rangers Need A Proven \u2018Number 9\u2019 To Spearhead Their Attack<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Both Celtic<\/a> and Rangers have bolstered their attack over the past two windows. Yet they lack the sharpness high up the pitch, particularly the Hoops, who have massively downgraded since replacing the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah with Kelechi Iheanacho, Junior Adamu and Tomas Cvancara. Having scored just\u00a0 3, 2 and 1 goals in 15, 11 and 6 outings, respectively, the centre-forward trio are unlikely to be retained beyond this season.<\/p>\n

Rangers<\/a>, on the other hand, brought in Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski last summer to succeed Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers. Although Chermiti has shown glimpses of his quality, Miovski is expected to part ways in the coming days after struggling to fit into Danny Rohl\u2019s style of play. Winter recruit Ryan Naderi has yet to attune to the aggression and physicality of the Scottish game upon his arrival from the German third division club Hansa Rostock, and a proven \u2018number 9\u2019 of Campbell\u2019s calibre would boost them significantly upfront.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
