In a recent report<\/a>, journalist Pete O\u2019Rourke claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are trailing Newcastle United in pursuit of Manchester City goalie James Trafford. It is believed that Spurs find themselves behind the Magpies in the race to land the English custodian this summer.<\/p>\n

Trafford\u2019s Impressive Form In English Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Trafford has served as a decent squad player for the Mancunian club but has struggled to earn regular first-team starts for them this season. The 23-year-old has only made 13 appearances for Man City in this campaign so far, conceding ten goals and keeping six clean sheets in the process across multiple competitions.<\/p>\n

The English keeper needs to earn regular playing time if he wants to get his career back on track. Hence, Spurs could offer him an escape route as they can provide him a regular first-team spot next season.<\/p>\n

Trafford is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on the cheap later this year.<\/p>\n

What Should Tottenham Hotspur Do With Regards To Trafford?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Trafford can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He can use his quick reflexes to make a few important saves at the back for his team.<\/p>\n

The English goalie is a solid handler of the ball as well and has got some valuable experience in the Premier League<\/a>. Thus, he could be a real asset in Tottenham<\/a>\u2018s squad next season and won\u2019t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club.<\/p>\n
