In a recent report<\/a>, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Blackburn Rovers defender Tom Atcheson. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to compete with Manchester United in the race to land the Northern Irish talent.<\/p>\n

Atcheson\u2019s Impressive Rise In English Football<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Atcheson has come through the youth ranks of Blackburn Rovers and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. The 19-year-old has made 12 appearances for the Lancashire club this season but has failed to score or create a goal for them across various competitions.<\/p>\n

The talented teenager is currently among the best young central defenders in English football. Thus, it makes sense for Spurs to move in for him in the upcoming transfer window.<\/p>\n

Atcheson is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn\u2019t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.<\/p>\n

However, as mentioned earlier, the Northern Irish talent is still quite inexperienced and would need time to prove his worth in top-flight football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting him, so Spurs should try to get him on board this summer.<\/p>\n

Atcheson would enhance the quality of Tottenham<\/a> head coach Robert De Zerbi\u2019s defence in the long run. He is already good enough to challenge for a place in the North London club\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n
