The Green Brigade are one of the most important things at Celtic Park. This ultras group in the North Curve has been the stadium\u2019s identity for over a decade with their choreography, banners, and constant vocal support. Their relationship with the club has always been a bit of a balancing act, swinging between moments of incredible solidarity and direct clashes with management, making them one of the most talked-about supporter groups in British football.<\/p>\n

What Happened and What Was Said?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Celtic<\/a> lifted the Green Brigade\u2019s suspension starting with Saturday\u2019s home game against St Mirren. This ends a ban that began in early November following reports of aggressive behaviour during a match against Falkirk in late October, with the suspension later extended in December due to other safety incidents.<\/p>\n

The Glasgow City Council Safety Advisory Group confirmed they had no objections to lifting the ban, provided three conditions are met: following all club policies (including season ticket terms), complying with safety operations, and accepting a match-by-match report submitted to the Safety Advisory Group for as long as necessary.<\/p>\n

Celtic\u2019s official statement confirmed<\/a> the Green Brigade accepted these terms without any pushback. Interim chairman Brian Wilson said he was pleased the suspension could be lifted on terms that apply to fans across the entire stadium, adding that a united Celtic Park can now get behind the team at this crucial point in the season.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Simon Jordan argued on talkSPORT that the match-by-match review is the most important part of the decision, given that the other conditions are fairly standard. With six league fixtures left, Celtic sit three points behind leaders Hearts and two points below Rangers, so having everyone on the same page is a massive priority for the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t seem that they (Celtic) actually want them (the Green Brigade) to do very much,\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n

The timing of this decision is very interesting. Celtic dealt with months of friction with the Green Brigade, but the suspension vanished the moment the title race tightened into a dead heat. The three conditions are, by any fair reading, the same basic expectations every fan already faces. This makes you wonder why talks dragged on for five months if the fix was always this simple.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Celtic Fans Collective described the whole situation as damaging and unnecessary, suggesting the board\u2019s handling of the matter caused real divisions that a late-season statement won\u2019t easily fix.
