Aston Villa are pushing to sign Real Sociedad goalkeeper \u00c1lex Remiro this summer, and Newcastle United<\/a> have joined the chase, according to Saturday\u2019s edition of Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, relayed via Sport Witness<\/a>. The report confirms that Remiro\u2019s release clause has dropped sharply from \u20ac50m to \u20ac12m, a figure both Premier League clubs can easily afford.<\/p>\n

Barcelona have held several meetings with Remiro\u2019s agent and are looking into a move this summer or a free transfer in 2027, when his contract ends.<\/p>\n

52 goals conceded sounds bad at first, but the situation matters a lot here. Real Sociedad have had a rough La Liga campaign, leaving Remiro exposed far more than most top keepers would put up with. His 82 saves across 33 starts, averaging 2.6 per game, show a goalkeeper working overtime behind a shaky defence.<\/p>\n

His passing, footwork, and ability to control the box are still top-quality, which should help in Emery\u2019s tactics of keeping the ball. The worry, though, is age. At 31, Remiro doesn\u2019t give Aston Villa long-term security, and \u20ac12m for a short-term solution is a risk if Emiliano Mart\u00ednez leaves.<\/p>\n
