Aston Villa have Thomas Kristensen firmly on their summer shortlist, with TuttoMercatoWeb, via Sport Witness<\/a>, reporting that Unai Emery\u2019s side are interested in the 24-year-old Udinese centre-back ahead of the 2026\/27 season. The Dane joined Udinese from Danish club AGF in September 2023 and has become one of Serie A\u2019s more dependable defenders since then, catching the eye of scouts across Europe with each passing month.<\/p>\n

Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> are both looking at Kristensen to bolster their backlines, though they face plenty of competition from AC Milan, Bologna, Juventus, and Nottingham Forest. Aston Villa currently sit fifth in the Premier League and are in the Europa League semi-finals against Nottingham Forest<\/a>, meaning European football next season looks likely, no matter how the next few weeks go. That context matters a lot here. Kristensen wants European football, and Villa can actually offer it.<\/p>\n

But the real worry is that at \u20ac25 million, Aston Villa would be paying a lot for a player whose passing under pressure still needs a lot of work, which is something Emery\u2019s system relies on heavily. With Tyrone Mings getting older and a possible summer departure looming, Villa do need a long-term solution at centre-back, but Kristensen feels more like a short-term upgrade than a permanent answer.
