In a recent report<\/a>, The Sun mentioned that Chelsea are locked in a three-way battle for Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap ahead of the summer transfer period. It is understood that the Blues would have to compete with Everton<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a> in the race to land the English striker.<\/p>\n

Delap\u2019s Impressive Form In The Premier League This Season<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Delap has put in a series of productive displays as the focal point of Ipswich\u2019s attack during this campaign. The 22-year-old has banged in 12 goals and secured a couple of assists in 34 appearances for the Tractor Boys this season across all fronts.<\/p>\n

The Winchester-born talent has led the line well based on his average of 2.0 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in Premier League<\/a> football. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 61.9% in league football (stats via whoscored<\/a>).<\/p>\n

His current contract at Ipswich will expire in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for Chelsea to sign him on the cheap later this year.<\/p>\n

Will Delap Be A Good Choice For Chelsea?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Delap can engineer a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well but needs to work on improving his ball distribution in the opposition half.<\/p>\n

Standing at 1.86m, Delap can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. At 22, he has the potential to grow into a top centre-forward over the next few years.<\/p>\n

Hence, Delap would be a great choice for the Blues<\/a> to consider in this summer transfer window. He would add more pace and power to Chelsea\u2019s frontline. The English forward is more than capable of competing for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming seasons.<\/p>\n

With all things considered, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca would be wise to go all out to win the race to secure Delap\u2019s services at the end of this campaign.
