In a recent interview with Football Insider<\/a>, former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown stated that Tottenham Hotspur are facing stiff competition in the race to land Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen this summer. Brown said,<\/p>\n

\u201cDean Huijsen is a top player and he\u2019s got a lot more to come.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got all the ingredients to become a world-class player and he\u2019s had a terrific season.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid looking at him \u2013 they want to sign a new centre-back and he certainly fits that bill.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut then you\u2019ve got Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea all having a look at him.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSo as far as Tottenham\u2019s interest goes, they might have to do some convincing.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHe would be perfect alongside Van de Ven in their defence.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no reason he wouldn\u2019t join them if they can get into the Champions League<\/a>, but you have to feel there are other clubs ahead of them.\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n

Huijsen\u2019s Impressive Form In The Premier League<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Huijsen is having a solid season at Bournemouth<\/a> as he has put in a string of impressive performances for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The Spanish talent has participated in 33 matches for the Cherries during this campaign, scoring three goals and picking up one assist in multiple competitions.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old has been a good performer when defending inside his half and deserves credit for averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 5.9 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League<\/a>. He has even been accurate when distributing possession after making 84.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Stiff Competition For Huijsen: Is He Worth The Fight?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Huijsen is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn\u2019t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can play his way out from the back.<\/p>\n

The Amsterdam-born youngster can use his powerful 1.97m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He already knows the Premier League well and won\u2019t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We can expect Huijsen to add more bite and steel to the North London club\u2019s backline in the long run. At 20, the Spanish talent has the potential to be a world-class defender someday. Therefore, he will be well worth the fight.<\/p>\n
